The week-long global talks in Busan, South Korea, on curbing plastic pollution ended Sunday in failure to adopt a final legally binding treaty as countries could not reach an agreement on how to regulate plastic production. This was the fifth and final round of negotiations since March 2022, when the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) agreed to develop a legally binding treaty on plastics pollution by the end of 2024.
