Eid-ul-Adha is observed on the tenth day of Dhu-al-Hijjah, the last (twelfth) month in the Islamic lunar calendar. Following the conclusion of the yearly Hajj pilgrimage, celebrations are contingent upon a valid lunar sighting. While Eid al-Adha is not directly related to the Hajj pilgrimage, it is significant chronologically since it falls just one day after the pilgrimage concludes.
