Six Chinese balloons flew through Taiwan’s airspace, warplanes and ships also detected

Taiwan on Monday reported that six Chinese balloons traversed either over the island or through airspace just north of it, accompanied by the presence of Chinese warplanes and navy ships in the area. The frequency of dispatching these balloons, which typically vanish into the Pacific to the east, seems to be increasing, although the intended purpose behind these activities has not been publicly disclosed. The Defense Ministry noted the balloon sightings on a list of Chinese People’s Liberation Army activity in the waters and airspace around Taiwan.
