Another Cold War, another space race and another chance for cooperation

In the aftermath of the Biden-Xi summit, we should consider a comparable moment 50 years ago during the height of superpower confrontation, when the issue of outer space cooperation was considered. We don’t need to look far to find a comparison between 1973s and 2023s cold wars. Recently, Belarus announced it was joining the Chinese/Russian-led International Lunar Research Station program, joining Pakistan, South Africa, Venezuela and a small but growing group of countries (seven total).
